LA CATRINA EN EL CARNAVAL DE VENECIA, ENCUENTRO DE TRADICIONES (MIXTA) Presenta a una figura enigmática que se alza sobre el agua y atrae todas las miradas: una Catrina mexicana. Viste un majestuoso vestido azul, y su rostro está dividido en dos mitades: una decorada con el tradicional maquillaje de calavera y la otra cubierta por una máscara veneciana. Juntas, evocan la dualidad entre la vida y la muerte, lo visible y lo oculto, lo festivo y lo sagrado. Las góndolas del fondo flotan como puentes simbólicos entre dos mundos: el mexicano, con la riqueza visual del Día de Muertos, y el veneciano, con la sofisticación de su carnaval de máscaras. En este encuentro imaginario, la obra celebra el poder del arte para unir culturas y sensibilidades a través de lo simbólico. Esta pieza nos recuerda que, aunque nacidas en tierras distintas, ambas tradiciones honran la fugacidad de la existencia con belleza, elegancia y una profunda conexión con lo ritual.
THE CATRINA AT THE VENICE CARNIVAL: A MEETING OF TRADITIONS (MIXED MEDIA)
The work presents an enigmatic figure rising above the water, commanding every gaze: a Mexican Catrina. She wears a majestic blue gown, and her face is divided into two halves — one adorned with traditional calavera makeup, the other concealed by a Venetian mask. Together, they evoke the duality between life and death, the seen and the unseen, the festive and the sacred. In the background, gondolas drift like symbolic bridges between two worlds: the Mexican, with the vibrant imagery of Día de Muertos, and the Venetian, with the refined allure of its masquerade carnival. In this imagined encounter, the piece celebrates the power of art to unite cultures and sensibilities through the language of symbols.This work reminds us that, though born in distant lands, both traditions share a profound reverence for the fleeting nature of existence — honoring it with beauty, elegance, and ritual meaning.
